About
The BCNE is presented by the Prince George Agricultural and Historical Association.

Welcome to the 112th annual British Columbia Northern Exhibition!

Did you know that the BCNE is one of the longest-running fall fairs around? Started in 1912, 3 years before the City of Prince George was incorporated, the first exhibition was held downtown and brought in about 200 people. They hoped that townspeople and farmers in the district would exhibit, compete and enjoy themselves, drawing the community together. The fair continued at various downtown locations until 1964 when an agreement was made between the City of Prince George and the Exhibition Association to manage the fairgrounds from which they operate today.

As early as the 1930s, the Boys and Girls Club, now known as 4-H, participated in the fair, always emphasizing a strong agricultural background. This continues to this day! 4-H youth, leaders and their volunteers and families have been working all year long for the opportunity to showcase their achievements and host the annual 4-H Auction at the BCNE this summer. Potential buyers are encouraged to support local agriculture and these future farmers, growers and producers.
The oldest divisions and the cornerstones to any fair or exhibition are the Home Arts and Horticulture Divisions. Dozens of sections including baking, woodworking, spinning and weaving, quilting, cut flowers and baskets and hundreds of classes to enter are all featured in our annual Prize Book. We encourage folks to enter at least three classes and challenge three friends to do the same! Let’s fill Home Arts and Horticulture with a sea of ribbons.

40 years is a long time. Maybe not for a giant redwood, or the orbit of Pluto, but certainly for a theatrical production. And yet that’s how long The SuperDogs have been entertaining audiences all over the world. To put it into perspective, they’ve been around longer than cellphones, IMAX movies, home computers, and all the SuperDogs really wanted us to mention this one, the Broadway show  Cats.

They’ve been the subject of television specials (ESPN’s SuperDogs! SuperJocks!), the inspiration for feature films (Daniel and the Superdogs), they’ve appeared on hundreds of television shows, from Canada’s Got Talent  to CBC’s The Rick Mercer Report, and they just keep getting better!

Touring constantly across North America, the SuperDogs draws from a talent pool of about 150 experienced trainers in different parts of the country who bring their family dogs and become cast members for these remarkable productions. Fast-paced, interactive, heart-warming and hilarious, these are not your average stunt-dog shows. They’re a cross between a Broadway hit and a major sporting event.

The Most Fun on Four Legs are the highest jumping, fastest dogs in the world. Here’s a bit more about what makes a family pet a SuperDog…

-
About 40% of the SuperDogs have been adopted from SPCA, Humane Society and local shelters.
-
There are over 40 different breeds of SuperDogs. We think any dog can be super!
